Jordan’s – Oceanbeach Road

Hawes Building solutions was engaged by the Arthur and Sandy Jordan in late 2013 to complete the extensive renovation of their existing home. An accurate estimate was provided to the Jordans and the project was signed up on an open book scenario with agreed rates and margins.

The scope of the project involved completely stripping the building back to the bare bones with only small amounts of the ground floor framing remaining. Major additions and extensions were proposed with a completely new architectural look requested by the clients. Concrete slab extensions were needed including extra foundations to support large structural steel beams and posts. The additions of the structural steel allowed the building to be more open plan with seamless clean lines. Feature exposed laminated beams and timber louvres added to the architectural appeal of the building. The claddings and roofing were made up of Certainteed asphalt shingles, natural stone schist, cedar bevel back weatherboards and a stomat plaster system. The electrical component of work carried out by Eclipse Electrical Ltd and Rowe Light Ltd required top of the range recessed feature lighting and fittings. Kitchens, cabinetry and tiling were also of the highest specification, as selected by the client.

Hawes Building Solutions worked closely with Brendon Gordon Architects to ensure that any design changes and challenges were dealt with promptly throughout the construction phase. Good lines of communication between the engineers, architect and the client allowed the job to flow smoothly. Regular site meetings with builder’s reports and programme updates kept the team up to speed allowing great continuity of work on site.

The Hawes Building Solutions team thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of this high specification renovation and have formed a great friendship based on this project and a number of others they have completed with the Jordans.
