Pahoia School Administration building had been added onto several times over the years from the original 2 classroom block. This had resulted in a convoluted arrangement of internal gutters and flashings that eventually succumbed to fate and started to leak. The Ministry of Education then chose to reroof the entire block in a simplified roof structure.
The addition of trusses was not a simple process however. The entire structure was wrapped during construction to protect existing spaces and interiors from water damage. The wrap had to be removed to allow the trusses to be individually craned in and positioned. The existing structure and foundations had to be adapted in places to accommodate new structural loading points.
