“We began with a plan of how the renovation would be managed as we were to continue living downstairs. Through good communication as to where all the workers would be each day this was achieved happily for us.

As a team they worked efficiently and moved very quickly through the renovation. The quality of all the workmanship was excellent, a happy blend of talent and skills. They were always prompt and if at all going to be late, would explain why.

Estimates were given promptly if any additional costs were to be incurred. We were given a starting date and finishing date and they were within these dates. Honest, reliable, totally trustworthy and competent.

“Our library upgrade began in February 2010 and was completed in May 2010. Throughout this time Mark and Anthony Hawes have always considered our daily timetabling and school learning and worked around our requests (eg testing of children etc). With the majority of work being done during school hours they kept us informed if there was an opportunity for us to take photos for tracking the progress in our library diary.

We met regularly with our architect and were impressed with the efficiency that changes were made by Hawes Building to help us with our budgetary restraints and new requirements.

The site was kept tidy and safe for the 60 pupils and school staff. Workers arrived early and worked throughout the day. Anthony was always willing to explain my queries (of which there were several) to a Principal without a builders knowledge!

“We have no hesitation in recommending both Mark and Anthony Hawes; builders of the highest calibre. Anthony is also a Quantity Surveyor.

We came to live at our property on Marine Parade three years ago. Our house being of the older type needed lots of renovation. We were also without a garage so that had to be built as well. The list is quite long but the boys have mentioned some of the work above. The quotes when asked for were done efficiently and explicitly. Any changes made along the way were taken into consideration and dealt with without a fuss.

Mark has his boys on the job early morning and they work through the day tirelessly. I have always been impressed with the thorough tidy up at the end of the day. Nothing is left out of place.

Honesty is hard to come by these days. This is to us paramount. You won’t find anyone as up front as these boys. Along with this comes the willingness to listen and the big smiles! It makes a difference having builders on your property that you know you can safely hand your house keys to.

“It was a difficult site to contend with due to the drainage and piling required. However the problems were overcome. We made constant demands for changes as the construction progressed, but the team responded well to our requests. Particular mention should be made of the Site Foreman who couldn’t have been more helpful, understood our needs and quite often was pro-active in raising questions to avoid issues later on.”

Many thanks for making the Hall available for an open day to allow the Oropi residents and others to find out for themselves what lay behind the big white fence. We had a wonderful aftrernoon with over 160 people signing the register and many more coming through also including Todd Muller, our MP and three Western BOP District Councillors. People were “blown away” with what they saw and we received so many lovely comments throughout the afternoon. Our Hall committee would like to congratulate and thank Hawes Building Solutions for the very high standard of workmanship that has gone into the re-development project. The stage is a real feature of the Hall as is the entrance and lobby with its curved ceiling.
