Hawes Building Solutions was engaged by Karel and Anneke Driessen in 2013 to build their new traditional style home and implement shed in Oropi Downs Tauranga. A full fixed lump sum contract was agreed and signed up with Hawes Building Solutions providing the Certified Builders home first 10 year builders guarantee.
The buildings comprised of a large high spec 365m2 home with a detached 34m2 implement building. The roofing and claddings were made up of colour-steel profile roofing and Jenkin A-lign timber weatherboards. Large timber decks and tiled stair entry allowed the living spaces to link seamlessly. Other features included a fully insulated slab with underfloor heating system, a wood burning marshall hot water heater linked to a 1200L attic tank and a solar heating system. Top of the range fittings, cabinetry and tiling were installed throughout. Double glazed joinery with the thermal breakage option were also selected.
Hawes Building Solutions project managed the entire building process engaging and coordinating trades. Regular site meetings were held providing feedback and addressing buildability issues if and when they arose. Good communication with the Driessens was maintained regularly with Hawes Building Solutions updating on design changes, cost variations and overall programming of the works.
Hawes Building Solutions also coordinated and completed the earthworks and landscaping for the Driessens. This comprised of remote controlled louvres over the deck area, raised macrocarpa gardens, kerbed garden edging, concrete driveways, feature garden lighting and Oropi stone retaining walls.
